Obituary of Edward J. Mundy

Edward Mundy of Chester, N.Y., passed away peacefully in his home, on November 27, 2019. In his last days he was surrounded by so many friends and family members. He was retired from the NYPD where he worked for many years as an Officer and a Detective. He was 69 years old. The son of the (late) Nicholas Mundy and Gertrude Mundy he was born on December 20, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York. After his retirement from the NYPD, he managed used car lots and spent a lot of time repo-ing cars. His love and confidence in the Mets lost him many bets with friends and family, but he always enjoyed rooting for the underdog. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, camping, RV-ing, and boating on Lake George. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Pa". He also loved being around his great nieces and great nephews. Survivors include his wife Cherri, whom he was married to just shy of 50 years. His son Ted Mundy and his wife Sandra of Tappan, N.Y. and his daughter Shawna Chaluisan and her husband Adrian of Chester, N.Y. His mother Gertrude Mundy of Staten Island, N.Y. His grandchildren Dylan and Danny Mundy and Ayla and Camryn Chaluisan. He is also survived by his brothers Nicholas Mundy and his wife Jean of Chester and Richard Mundy and his wife Eva of Queens. His nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as cousins also survived Edward. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2019 from 3-8 P.M. at the Lippincott Funeral Chapel, Inc. 107 Murray Ave. Goshen, N.Y. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
