Eileen, my first memory of John is from my first time out on the Tootsie Roll Drive. I relieved John and as he walked away I ask "How much are the tootsie rolls?" John laughed and said "We're not selling tootsie rolls. We just want their money."
My final memory is that of John carrying concrete blocks to the site where the statue of the Sacred Heart now stands, just days before going to New York. He looked up and smiled as I drove by. It is his smile that I will always remember
He is smiling with the angels and saints now and forever.

Dear Eileen,
John was a most honorable and loving individual that we were extremely fond of and will miss his smiles and his warm greetings always whenever we were in his company. No one ever worked harder than he whatever the challenge or project. He worked tirelessly in St Anastasia; for Irish citizenship for Irish who served in the Army; in The Bronx with Safeway; in sports obviously. We will miss him but now he is with his God whom he loved dearly and will be with you always.
Love,
Mary and Si

Eileen & Family our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I will always remember John's visit to my mother Kitty Lenihan in Tuam last summer. She fondly has recalled wonderful memories of many times spent with him during the younger years! He leaves behind a wonderful family and I know you will all be a great source of comfort and support to one another.
Words are never adequate in moments like these. Life is not measured by the years that John lived but the love that he gave and the things that he did. Kindness was his nature. We will always remember the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing John.
Kind Regards
Oliver & Bridie Mc Hale Tuam Co. Galway Ireland
