Obituary of Jan Greenfield
Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Saturday January, 24th 2015, Jan Greenfield passed from our sight. Jan was a loving, dedicated and active husband to Gunnel Greenfield and father of 3, Sahar, Daniel and Hanna. He also leaves behind 2 grandsons, 1 older brother Alan and older sister Barbara, who loved him dearly as he did them.
Jan lived life with passion and commitment unlike the average citizen, he experienced and accomplished many incredible things. Jan set the New York state record in high school for the fastest 100M dash. He later received a full-athletic scholarship to play basketball and run track at West Virginia University. Jan later transformed on stage casting roles on Broadway in New York City. He spent over 10 years as a prominent actor in Europe traveling with the continent's most famous circus extravaganza show. Jan returned home to New York due to his father death and decided that the medical profession would be his new career of choice. He spent the last 20 years working as registered nurse and paramedic at highly-respected institutions such as New York Presbyterian hospital in Manhattan.
Jan's death was the result of a very aggressive malignant brain tumor which ended after a 1 and a half year battle. Jan was loved by many and will be missed by more. He served as trustee on the village board for many years and loved the Greenwood Lake village unlike any other, calling it home for 18 years. Now smiling down on those who miss him, forever will he live within our hearts.
