My sincere condolences for your loss. May your family find comfort in a beautiful future hope found in God's word. At Revelation 21:4, God promises that he will completely do away with tears, sorrow and death. Imagine that for a moment, suffering and death will cease to exist. God also promises in Acts 24:15 that "there is going to be a resurrection". Your family will see Edward again, happy and healthy in a beautiful paradise. May the memories you have and this bright hope bring you peace until you see Edward again.
