Obituary of Marion H. Traverse

Marion H. Traverse of New Hampton, a retired school teacher with the Minisink Valley School District and a lifelong resident of the area, died on Sunday April 8, 2018 in Middletown Park Manor.  She was 83.

The daughter of the late John and Helen McGuire Lippert, she was born on June 3, 1934 in Warwick, New York.

Marion was a graduate of New Paltz State Teachers College.  She taught in the Middletown Schools and the Minisink Valley School Districts.

She was a longtime member of Denton Presbyterian Church in New Hampton.  She was a member of the Church Choir; a Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon and Elder and a member of the Prayer Ministry.

She was the widow of Dean “Jack” Traverse.

Survivors include her sons Mike Traverse of Slate Hill, N.Y. and Patrick Traverse and his fiancé Shannon Keeler of Milford, PA.  Her sister Mary Jane Lippert of New Hampton, N.Y.  Her companion Russ Napoli.  Her grandchildren Matthew Stephens; Jason Traverse; Matthew Traverse and Marie Traverse.  Her sister-in-law Helen Lippert of New Hampton and brother-in-law Paul Traverse of  Inverness, FL. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Dean Traverse Jr., her grandson Marky Traverse and her brother John Lippert.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Denton Presbyterian Church    22 County Route 56  New Hampton, New York.
