Obituary of Louis Martel
Louis L. Martel Jr. of Wurtsboro, a retired custodian with the Monroe-Woodbury School District and a longtime resident of the area, died on March 12, 2018 in Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 71.
The son of the late Louis and Betty Hufnal Martel, he was born on March 6, 1947 in Ware, MA.
Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved Nascar, hunting and fishing. He loved to cook for his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. They called him the “Meatball King”.
Survivors include his wife Linda Martel at home. His children Michele Rotundo and her companion Tony; Angel Shoemaker and her husband Thomas all of Middletown; Tammy Akins of Plattsburgh; Sheri May and her husband Terance of PA. and Louis Martel III and his wife Tammy of Middletown. His sisters Lois Rogler and her husband Ron of Scipio Center, N.Y.; Kristine Moore and her husband Joseph of Circleville; Luann Phillips of Middletown; Patti Lou Hunt and her husband Ken of Marietta, GA.; Denise Peterson of Cody, Wyoming; Susan Davis of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and Beth Walker of Champlain, N.Y. His brothers Duane Martel and his wife Ann Marie and Scott Martel and his wife Darlene all of Middletown. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday March 15, 2018 from 3-6 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
