Obituary of John F. Tirrell

John F. "Jack" Tirrell, Jr., a retired plumber with Local 12 in Boston, Massachusetts, died on August 29, 2014, at home, with Ann, his beloved wife of 65 years, by his side. He was 91.
The son of the late John and Alice Trainor Tirrell, Jack was born on May 26, 1923, in Dover, New Hampshire, and lived 88 years of his life in Melrose, Massachusetts, before moving to the Town of Wallkill in 2012.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having proudly served his country in the Solomon Islands and the Philippines during World War II.
Survivors include his wife Ann Tirrell, at home; his children Kathleen Joeckel and her husband Kevin of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Elizabeth Conflitti and her husband Robert of Middletown, and John Tirrell and his wife Kristen of Gainesville, Virginia; his brothers Phillip and Joseph; his sisters Harriet and Gertrude, and Sister Patricia Tirrell. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Eric Lawrence.
Jack was a gentle man who loved his family. He worked hard in all kinds of weather to provide for them. He loved his dogs and walked them every day around Mt. Hood, near his home in Melrose. "Jack was my better half for over 65 years," said his wife, Ann. "Words are inadequate to express how much Jack will be forever missed."
There will be no visitation.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 140 Cottage Street, Middletown, New York, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, New York.
