Obituary of Harry R. Tinney

Harry R. Tinney of Greenwood Lake, a retired master electrician and longtime resident of the area, died on November 18, 2016 in Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. He was 88.
The son of the late Walter and Mary Tinney, he was born on September 17, 1928 in Yonkers, N.Y.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and did special projects in the North Sea. He was a Ham Radio Enthusiast; he helped do the Electrical Work on the Indian Point project. He was a survivor along with his mother and brother of the SS Athenia a passenger ship that was torpedoed by a German Submarine in World War I.
Survivors include his wife Evangeline Tinney at home. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Robert and April Pitney and Faith and Peter Venechanos.
Visitation hours will be held on Monday November 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church 2250 Goshen Turnpike Middletown, New York.
Burial will be in Warwick Cemetery Warwick, N.Y.
