Dear Fran, Camille and family, my deepest sympathy for your loss. I knew Mr. Z. when I attended Middletown High School from 1971 - 1974. He was a good teacher, asst. principal and a great senior class advisor. I always enjoyed talking with Mr. Z. whether it was during my high school years or afterwards. A few years after graduation I was at the lower high school field watching my wife's softball team practice when Mr. Z., who lived across the street, called to me to come to his home. He wanted to know when I graduated high school because when they moved the High School from Grand Avenue to it's new location he saw a 1974 Men's class ring with the initials SJC in the safe. It was MY class ring. So, not only do I remember some sage advice from Mr. Z. but I have my class ring back because of him. Steve Collins, Middletown High School Class of 1974.

Dear Fran, Jackie, Bruce, and Camille; I didn't know what I wanted to write but with Don's picture in front of me it only took me a few seconds after looking into his eyes. I began to think of all the good times we shared growing up on State Street, Walnut Street, and Hooker Street in North Adams. I remembered playing baseball with Don at Noel Field with all the guys from the neighborhood. I know Don is in Heaven and if there is a baseball team there Don will be on it-----save me a place at shortstop Don. Deepest Sympathy, Ben Morandi

Dear Fran and Family, Pam and I were deeply saddened to hear of Don's passing. Don was an excellent educator and even more importantly, an excellent man. We all have fond memories of your frequent house parties in Grahamsville where we often commented on your warmth, your hospitality, and on your overall good cheer. I also remember many nights after board meetings gathering at your home for great conversation, hearty laughs, and a sense of committed fellowship in "doing right for kids." I've always believed that the worth of a person is measured by whether the world is a better place for him or her having lived. And with that as a measure on the report card of life, we have no doubt that Don will surely get an "A". With Our Deepest Condolences, Neil, Pam, and Zac Bright

Such a great loss. ... mr.ziter will be so missed but will always be in my heart . I graduated in 1979 & the many yrs prior were made much better by his personality, support & kindness. He was always there to help resolve any problem & keep us kids happy . May god bless him & all who had the privilege of knowing him . I will forever be thankful he was part of my school experience. I was fortunate to be Don's secretary at Tri-valley. He was appreciative of work well done, and always gave the credit to me if I was responsible for the work in a project. He encouraged me to be the best that I could be. He loved working with the students and wanted the best from them. My sympathy to Fran on the loss of her best friend and love.

Don was the high school principal at Tri-Valley when I began my teaching career. He was always kind, compassionate, and positive. I'm thankful to have been mentored by a fine man like him. Although I had a lot to learn about teaching, he always pointed out my strong points and saw my potential. I will always have fond memories of him and will forever be grateful for his guidance and encouragement. Rest in peace, Don.
