December 21, 1939 - January 19, 2016
Middletown, NY
Michael Giosue Falanga of Middletown, NY and Palm City, FL, passed away peacefully at Orange Regional Medical Center with his family by his side after a lengthy illness. He was 76.
He was the son of the late Giosue Michael Falanga and Maria LaCroce Falanga; he was born December 21, 1939 in Middletown, NY.
Michael, affectionately known by his grandchildren as Poppy, would often be found in the kitchen cooking family recipes, as he loved to feed everyone. He especially enjoyed the pool parties with his family and friends this past summer. He was large as life and will be greatly missed.
In the earlier years he was a furrier with his late father at Crown Monarch, Newark, NJ. He later established Styles by Michael and also taught Cosmetology classes at BOCES. He later went on to establish along with his wife Peg, M. Falanga Trucking, LLC and retired due to his illness. He was a member of the BPOE #1520, in Fort Pierce, FL. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #445, the treasurer of the First Ward Social and Athletic Club, past member of the Middletown Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Waalkill Fire Engine Company and was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. He looked forward to spending the winter months with Peg in Palm City, FL, especially in their new home. He loved cars, enjoyed riding his golf cart, going out to eat and playing cards with his friends.
Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret "Peg"; his sons: Anthony Sr. and his wife, Marsha, and Michael and his wife, Lou Ann; his sisters: Josephine (Ronald) Davis, Theresa Creta; sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Fred) O'Gar and Robert (Marj) Smith. Also left with wonderful memories are his grandchildren: Nicole (Thomas) Cooper Jr., Anthony (Adrienne) Falanga, Giosue Michael Falanga, Melissa Falanga and Joey Falanga. He is also survived by his loving great-grandchildren who will miss their Poppy greatly: Scarlett Lynne Cooper, Thomas Edward Cooper III, Anthony A. Falanga III, and Knox Burris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Michael is now reunited with those loved ones that predeceased him: his loving parents; special in laws: Albert and Helen Smith; loving friends and relatives.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 21st at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street, Middletown, NY. A Mass will be offered at 1 p.m., Friday, January 22nd at St. Joseph's RC Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's RC Church in Michael's name.
