Obituary of Michael J. Lewis

Michael J. Lewis of Greenwood Lake, an Iron Worker with Local 417 in Newburgh, and a lifelong resident, died on August 23, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was 54.
The son of the late Elwood and Doreen Lewis he was born on February 23, 1961 in Goshen, New York.
He was a member of Grace Community Church in Washingtonville, New York.
A family statement read: " I went over to reassure him that I was here, and he went to be with the Lord at 5:02 with a smile on his face. He loved playing his worship music, he was a loving and caring husband, father and friend. He always loved helping the children with music lessons. He would give you the shirt off his back. Michael said in his fight with cancer that he will win either way, whether he stays here or goes to be with Jesus. He never questioned God why? He said why not me."
Survivors include his wife Juanita Lewis at home. His children Dennis Lewis of Middletown; Stacey Gray and her husband Mark of Monroe and Angel Leven and her husband Damien of Monroe. His eight grandchildren: Austin; Alexis; Jacob; James; Jaedyn; Jocelyn; Julianna and Demi. His sister Cynthia Helt of Walden and his brother William Lewis of Port Crane, N.Y. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday August 26, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Strong- Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday August 27, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Warwick Cemetery Warwick, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
