Janet Chodakowsky, 65, of Greenwood Lake, New York, passed on September 24th. She was born in Suffern, New York to Elizabeth and Richard Elmendorf and grew up in Pearl River, New York, with ten siblings.
She worked within the Greenwood Lake School District as an aide for over 30 years and was renowned for her demeanor with children; "Mrs. C" was affectionately known as the "child whisperer" among friends and colleagues.
Janet embodied kindness and compassion and her huge heart gave love to everyone she cared about. She was a tremendous listener and her smile displayed wisdom and charity.
She had a deep love for being in nature, spending time with animals, and enjoyed working in her garden.
She is survived by her children Joshua and Catherine, her grandchildren Heath and Damien, and her siblings Leslie, Beth, Rick, David, Steven, Kathy, and Lynn. She was preceded by her siblings Jean and Kenneth.
