Obituary of Walter H. Hill Jr.
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter (Walt) Hill was born in Middletown to Beatrice Smith and Walter H. Hill Sr. Walter attended Middletown High School. He served his country in the United Staes Army.
Prior to 2019 he was an active member of Bread of Life Church. Walt worked in the maintenance department for the Middletown School District for over 20 years until his retirement in 1998.
He was the kind of person that would gladly help anyone who might need it whether it be entertaining kids in the neighborhood or putting his tractor in the back of his pickup truck and going to mow someone's lawn. He enjoyed the outdoors and after his retirement he could be found riding bike on the Heritage Trail from Goshen to Chester and back several times a week until the summer of 2005. After giving up bike riding, he used to go walking at Fancher Davidge Park.
He watched all 3 of his sisters die of cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Walter, as well as his siblings Richard Hill, Pearl Conklin, Sandra Hill, Brian Hill and Geraldine Moulton.
He is survived by his wife Joanne of Middletown, daughter Melissa and her husband Michael of Walker Valley, his daughter Regina of Middletown, his granddaughter Naomi and her husband Alex of Bloomingburg and 2 great grandsons Zander and Hendrick also of Bloomingburg as well as many nieces and nephews.
He trusted Jesus as his Savior as a young boy while attending The Salvation Army in Middletown. Walt believed in this scripture," For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." He lived a good life and is now home with Jesus and those who went before him.
