On behalf of the Ortiz family, especially Nelson jr., we wish to extend our sincerest condolences to Diana, Letty and the rest of Louie's family. Childhood memories of us all growing up in the 60s/70s on 175/177 Alexander Avenue are still as clear as yesterday. Carefree days of playing handball, hot peas and butter, ringolevio, stickball, skelzies, hit the ball off the bench (to name a few) bring smiles to our faces and always lead to Nelson saying "I remember when..." followed by belly laughs. The three buddies Emilio (who would later become his brother-in-law and is Diana's brother), Louie and Nelson were usually together or never far apart. So many good times spent in our kitchen while our mom spoiled them and they cracked joke after joke. One joke funnier than the last. Mom would say "Que buen muchacho" whenever she referred to Louie. Though miles and years separated us as was often the case back then (pre-world wide web) we never forgot Louie and had nothing but love for him. Reconnections made possible via social media these past few years proved that you can pick up from where you left because we carried one another where it most mattered...in our hearts. Louie we trust that from the heavens above you will guard these cherished memories until we earn a place to find ourselves together again. Know that we 5 Ortiz siblings mourn the loss of our friend/keeper of innocent childhood secrets and will hold dear the good ole days spent with you. With love and sweet memories; Nelson jr, Iraida, Nilsa, Norberto and Wilmer Ortiz.
