Obituary of Margaret Otchere Amoakohene

Margaret Otchere Amoakohene of Middletown, N.Y. passed away on October 4, 2021 in Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 59 years old. The daughter of Daniel and Ama Asantewaa Otchere, she was born on August 13,1962 in Boanim Ghana. She moved from Ghana to London in the 1980s before she immigrated to the US. Margaret was a registered nurse and worked at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y. for many years. She also worked a variety of jobs including as a seamstress before becoming a registered nurse. She has recently obtained her master's in nursing administration. She is survived by her children Mavis Agyeiwaah whose husband is Renos Kusi of Virginia. Michele Amoakohene of Connecticut; Sandy Amoakohene of Massachusetts and Joel Amoakohene of Middletown, N.Y. She is also survived by her sisters including Juliana Otchere Badu, Theresa Sarpong, Agnes Nana Achiaa, Grace, Cecilia, Vida, brothers including Mpiani, Antwi and Asomadu. Margaret is also survived by her family members including Uncle George Owusu in Waltham MA, Auntie Yaa Achiaa in Hamburg Germany, as well as Auntie Akousa Serwaa and her children in Toronto Canada. Margaret is survived by her grandchildren Renos Kusi Jr. and Reuben Kusi. She is also survived by her nieces including Diana Serwah Badu, Georgina pomaa Badu, Gifty Badu as well as several nephews. Margaret loved to sing. She also loved her family. She was a hard worker and overcame multiple adversities. She instilled those principles in her children. She will surely be missed. As you prepare to attend services, please be advised that the family requests that facial coverings be worn at all times while inside the Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021 from 10-11 A.M. with Services commencing at 11 A.M.-1 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y. Burial will follow at Ridgebury Cemetery located at 12 Ridgebury Hill Rd, Slate Hill, NY 10973 . There will be a memorial service held on December 11th as well.
