My memories of Dr. Ellison revolved around his rolling up his sleeves when he came to see me at Arden Hill Hospital way back in 1971. My twin sister and I had broken our left legs in a toboggan accident on Valentine's Day and although my sister was able to return home, I stayed at Arden Hill for five months...my femur was not healing straight and he had to rebreak it after 8 weeks. I will never forget the look on his face nor the pat on my arm after it was all over. In those days, pulleys and traction were the procedure...times and procedures have made significant changes. He was a wonderful man and I have always been truly grateful for doing his very best for me.

Dr. Ellison was a kind man. He did my mastectomy surgery in 1990 and was very comforting when I needed it the most. Only just found out about his passing and wanted to express my sincere thoughts for his family. He is enjoying heaven now. I will always remember his much needed kind words.

While living in Middletown, John Ellison was not only my doctor, but also a friend. He had a great sense of humor and a very compassionate personality. Although I moved to Florida I spoke with him periodically and thought of him many times. I'll miss him. David Rich

As a registered nurse, it was a honor and pleasure to care for many of Dr. Ellison's patients in the SICU at Horton Hospital. Dr. Ellison was knowledgeable and caring. He was good hearted. He was always ready to say something to brighten our day, put a smile on our face or to make us laugh. He made the world a better place. Sending my condolences to his family.
