I only learned yesterday ( 1/9 ) about Ray's passing as I read the sign outside of the New Hampton firehouse, and I wanted to express my sincere condolences to his mother and his family, and well as his neighbors across the road. I came to know Ray through his mother; I would pass by his mom taking her daily walk as I jogged. Fast forward - I would be walking by their house with my dog and stop to "shoot the breeze" with Ray as I passed. One time we talked about how amazing it is to watch a thunder and lightning storm. He always had a smile on his face, and loved to help people. A couple of stories I'd like to share; when my dog Missy was very sick with cancer and could not move, I called Ray and he helped me carry her into the car to take her to see the veterinarian. On a lighter note, one day I had placed quarters on my car, forgetting that I left them there before I drove off . When I realize it I pulled my car near Rays' home; he came out of his house when he saw me and took the time to help me look for the quarters that were hidden in the grass. It will not be the same Greeves Road now, and I will miss waving to him, sitting on the bench or driving his lawn tractor as I pass by in my car. No doubt he is now reunited with his dog and his faithful companion who he lost recently, and he will always be with his loved ones in spirit. May God guide your family through this time of loss.
